Create a 1km square gridded map for all CRT sites, for use in planning / strategy development

Frustrated by too many maps, the Countryside Restoration Trust (CRT) decided it was time for an inventory of their land assets and consistency across their maps, in 2015. The Countryside Restoration Trust is the UK’s leading charity promoting wildlife-friendly farming and campaigning for a living, working countryside. Their principles are that wildlife is integral to good farming. This philosophy is put into practice on over 2,000 acres of working farms, small-holdings and woodland across the country. However, too much confusion had arisen between the stakeholders and the tenants about who owned what and which were permitted paths.

Clear Mapping Co was asked to visit each site and talk to both volunteers and the caretakers of the land to establish clear map data from the myriad of sources available. The base maps were created to be consistent and usable by all parties. Decision-making about land management and natural capital is now much easier and quicker to implement, with all stakeholders able to participate in the future of wildlife-friendly farming.

Caroline went to a lot of trouble to ensure our information panel was in line with our expectations for this very site specific commission. We are very pleased with the result and would happily recommend the Clear Mapping Company to other prospective customers.
